The following options are available to runners registered via General Entry, Affiliated Entry, Multi-Event Pass or 2K Family Fun Run price types.

1) A free transfer to the rescheduled event on 23 May 2021

Your entry has been transferred automatically so you do not need to re-register. We will keep you updated with details on the re-scheduled event as it draws closer.

2) A deferral to the next edition of the event in 2022

If you are unable to attend the rescheduled event. The next edition will take place in the Spring of 2022 with an exact date confirmed after the 2021 race.

A limited number of deferrals will be available. If you would like to take up this option you must request it by 31 October 2020, to inform our planning, following the instructions below:

  • Login to the MyEvents portal using the email address and password you used when signing up.
  • Select ‘2021 Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay Run’ (if it does not appear – select ‘claim registration’ and enter the registration ID from your confirmation email).
  • Select the ‘Change Event’ button and then ‘2022 Cardiff Bay Run’.
  • Complete the registration form. You will not have to pay anything at the checkout.

Please note that your confirmation receipt will display the 2022 event date as 01 January 2022. The actual (Spring) event date will be confirmed closer to the time.

Please note: the deferral option is not available to you if you purchased your entry via an official charity as your space has a personal fundraising pledge attached for the the upcoming edition of the event.

3) The opportunity to transfer your space to another runner and receive a refund

We will waive the usual £5.80 transfer fee and you will have until April 2021 to make the transfer. Please note that for insurance and medical reasons, all transfers must be conducted through the official transfer service – which is set up to ensure you do not need to share personal or payment information – just a transfer link.

4) The opportunity to participate virtually instead

If runners can provide evidence of covering the race distance (using an app like Strava, a GPS tracker or a picture of gym equipment) during the month of November we will send them a finishers medal and t-shirt in the post. We will cover the postage costs. The virtual option is available to runners in the 10K or family race.  

Finishers items will be sent to runners at the end of the participation window, as long as they submit evidence before 30 November. 

If you would like to take up this option, you will need to transfer into the virtual race by 31 October 2020:

  • Login to the MyEvents portal using the email address and password you used when signing up.
  • Select ‘2021 Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay Run’ (if it does not appear – select ‘claim registration’ and enter the registration ID from your confirmation email).
  • Select the ‘Change Event’ button and then ‘2020 Virtual Cardiff Bay Run’.
  • Complete the registration form. You will not have to pay anything at the checkout.

Please note: If you purchased an entry via one of our official charities, a corporate package or by using a discount code you will need to contact the charity or code issuer to discuss if transferring into the virtual race is possible. 

5) Opt to donate your entry and entry fee to the R4W Charitable Foundation

The R4W Charitable Foundation awards funding to grassroots sport and other community projects (such as the Welsh Schools Athletic Association, parkrun and the Run Wales social running programme).

Since 2012, it has awarded over £500,000 to projects in Wales. The foundation is usually funded by the surpluses generated by Run 4 Wales events, which cannot go ahead in 2020 because of COVID-19, so your support will help at a crucial time.

If you would like to donate your entry, please email cardiffbay@run4wales.org with the subject header ‘DONATION’ confirming this, using the email address you used to sign up. Your entry will be cancelled, and you will not be able to un-do this.
