Check out all of the most important event day information below.
Please note, the below information refers to the May 2022 race. The event will return in 2023 (date TBC), and this page will be updated closer to race day.
Location: Roald Dahl Plass, Cardiff Bay.
Date & Time: Sunday 22 May 2022. The 10K begins at 11:00am, the Junior Races start from 09:45am.
Race Packs: All race packs are being processed and posted out in batches. Yours will be on its way. If you do not receive yours by Saturday, 21st May in the post, please come to the LOST RACE pack queue, Event Information Tent, Runners’ Village, outside the Pierhead Building on Sunday, 22nd May from 7:30am providing us your original race number which you can find on the R4W tracker app.
If you cannot find your race number, please email the office on firstname.lastname@example.org
Race Pack and Number: Your race number and a race day guide will be posted to you within a week of the race. Your pack will include a running bib, with a unique race number. It’s vital that you keep this safe as a timing chip (which enables us to give you your finishing time) is embedded into all 10K race numbers – which cannot be reissued.
Please pin the number to the front of your t-shirt on race day, and remember to complete the medical information on the back of your race number. This is VERY important.
Elite Entry: Click here for more information on Elite Place qualifying times.
Corporate Challenge: Click here to find out more about our Corporate Packages.
Wheelchairs & Buggies: Entry is open to wheelchairs in both the 10k and Family Fun Run. Buggies are permitted in the Fun Run only.
What’s Included: 10K race entry includes a finishers medal, technical race t-shirt and live tracking through the Run 4 Wales app. Junior Race (Fun Run and Future Challengers) entry includes a commemorative medal. Medals (both races) and t-shirts (10K only) will be distributed at the finish line of your race.
Travel & Parking
Cardiff Bay is easily accessible by foot, bike, car, bus and train (via Cardiff Queen Street). To embrace a sustainable event, we encourage active travel such as walking or cycling (the city has many accessible cycle routes).
There are very limited parking options in Cardiff Bay because of the road closures in place for the event, so car sharing is encouraged, and we recommend parking in the city centre (which is a short 1-mile walk or warm up jog from the Bay).
For those arriving by bike, there will be a free bike park available at the top of Roald Dahl Plass outside the Wales Millennium Centre, opposite the water tower.
For more info and advice please click here.
Bag storage is situated behind the Pierhead Building, and will be open from 9:00am. Tear of the baggage label strip on the bottom of your 10K race number and attach it to your bag before you arrive.
10K Race Start
The 10km race starts on the Northbound Carriageway of Lloyd George Avenue, near Roald Dahl Plass. The solid colour (either white, green, red, blue or yellow) behind the number on your running bib will dictate which starting pen you must assemble in before the race.
To avoid confusion on the day it is vital that you look at the Venue Map in the Race Day Guide (below) for details on how to access your starting pen. Pens will open at 10:45am.
The Cardiff Bay Run Junior will commence from 09:45 with the Future Challengers Mile, with the 2K Fun Run at 10:00, followed by the Toddler Dash at 10:40. Races will start and finish in the Roald Dahl Plass.
Health and Safety
Our 10K route takes place on fully closed roads, but competitors should be aware of their surroundings and listen out for marshal’s instructions for their own health and safety. Trip hazards, such as speed bumps will be clearly signposted but please keep an eye out!
A big team of #ExtraMilers will be giving up their own time on race day to ensure you have an unforgettable day.
Looking for a new personal best? Our pacers will be running at 45, 60 and 75 minutes to help you keep track of your time. Look out for them in your start wave.
